Job Description


The purpose of the shift coordinator is to provide leadership and supervision to front of house restaurant staff and assist the assistant manager and manager in managing the Harvest Restaurant at the Hotel Hershey. Additionally, it will assist with management of Poolside at Hotel Hershey during the summer.

Job Functions (Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):
  • Act as floor supervisor for host(esses), wait staff, server assistants, and bar area employees during shift. Provide feedback and guidance to employees and modify work assignments as needed to meet shifting business needs during shift.*
  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards for front of house restaurant staff.*
  • Maintain guest service and hospitality standards through interaction with guests and monitoring employees on the floor. Ensure proper execution of all service standards set by management. Perform table touches regularly throughout shift to collect feedback from guests.*
  • Act as liaison to management; observe and report on all issues or concerns that arise day to day. Provide feedback to management so they can implement solutions.*
  • Assist manager in weekly administrative work such as scheduling and timekeeping. Perform data entry and other assistance as requested. Observe management in order to learn and cross train.*
  • Conduct food service and other trainings for front of house staff in order to set the example for guest-friendly service.*
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of Food & Beverage experience.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Completion of high school diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:
  • Post-Employment - ServSafe

  • Able to anticipate guest needs and respond promptly
  • Exercise clear judgment in pressure situations and maintain professionalism
  • Ability to model Hotel's standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Proven employee/guest relations, problem solving, and organizational skills

ANDREW HELMERVICE PRESIDENT, HUMAN RESOURCESAndy was named Vice President, Human Resources in January 2014. Andy began his career with the company in 1984 at Hersheypark and held various positions in the Foods Department at the Park over the next eight years. In 1992, he began his management career as Food Service Personnel Coordinator. Throughout his more than 20-year career with the company, Andy has held a variety of positions, including Manager Compensation/HRIS and Assistant General Manager of the Entertainment Complex. Prior to becoming the company's Vice President, Human Resources, Andy served as Managing Director of Human Resources.
JOHN K. LAWNPRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERJohn was appointed a Director of the company in June 2017. John was elected Chief Executive Officer in June 2017 after serving as President since September 2016. He previously served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and held other leadership positions in the Entertainment division, including Director of Food & Beverage and Assistant General Manager of Hersheypark®. Prior to joining the company, John worked with clients at Yankee Stadium, FedEx Field, and the Men's US Open Championships, as well as at other sporting venues and premier hospitality events throughout the country. John is a member of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). He serves on the boards of both the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry.
