Job Description

Troon is the world’s largest third party golf management company. An exceptional opportunity awaits a Legal Assistant at the Troon Corporate office, with successful experience and a desire to develop their career in an esteemed global organization. 

General Purpose:

Troon is the right organization for an ambitious self-starter who desires to be part of an organization that both values and rewards hard work and dedication.  In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the legal department (currently 3 attorneys and 3 paralegals) and have an opportunity to become a vital part of an established legal team that provides day-to-day support, including legal, risk and business analysis, to Troon’s business units. This legal assistant position reports to Troon’s VP, Senior Corporate Counsel and works closely with all members of the legal department.  

The legal assistant will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the legal team, including carrying out administrative services, handling invoicing, maintaining legal databases, and providing general support to the legal team. The ideal candidate for this position has a good work ethic, exceptional problem solving skills, strong communication skills, excellent computer skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic in-office workplace.

Essential Duties:

• Complete administrative duties such as making copies and mailing important documents

• Maintain and update legal databases and programs.

• Manage invoicing.

• Implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow.

• Work with corporate personnel in a professional and discrete manner.  

• Maintain confidentiality at all times. 

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

• Strong work ethic and willingness to go “above and beyond” to meet requirements of the position when required.

• Experience in invoice management.

• Strong IT skills, including all Microsoft Office programs, including the ability and desire to learn new software and systems to improve the functioning of the corporate team. Experience in legal database management is preferred, including Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker and HighQ, Westlaw, and hCue Entity Management.

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and react quickly as circumstances warrant.

• Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

Education/Experience:

• 3-5 years of legal assistant experience in an established law firm or corporation.  Experience in corporate or hospitality law preferred.

• Two-year degree or equivalent certificate with work experience.

Bruce GlascoChief Operating OfficerBruce Glasco has over 20 years experience in the golf industry. Prior to joining Troon Golf, Glasco specialized in operations at several of the world's leading golf facilities. The list includes such recognized properties as the famed Pine Valley Golf Club, Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club, the Kapalua Golf Club and Resort, and the exclusive Maroon Creek Club. Glasco also possesses a development background having served in a project management capacity for Hines, one of the world's most recognized international developers. Glasco joined Troon in 1999 as Vice President of Operations and was promoted to Senior Vice President of the company's Australia Pacific division in 2001. He was appointed Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations in 2006 and to his current role at the beginning of 2012.
Ruth EngleChief Financial OfficerRuth Engle joined Troon Golf after serving as vice president and controller of the aerospace division of Honeywell International. During her time at Honeywell, she also held vice president and CFO positions over three leading divisions. Ruth began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and has since held financial leadership positions at major global engineering companies. Early in her career, Ruth returned to her alma mater as a professor, teaching economics and business at Lafayette College. She then earned her master's degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and co-authored a book titled: "Small Business Survival Guide to Debits, Credits and Cash: What Every Growing Business Needs to Know About Accounting and Finance."
Tim SchantzChief Executive OfficerTim Schantz has over twenty five years' experience specializing in corporate and real estate transactional matters, with the last twenty years focused on the golf and leisure sector. A licensed attorney, he received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from the University of Kansas. Prior to joining the Company in 1998, Schantz spent five years in the California offices of the international law firm Latham & Watkins, followed by three years as Vice President, Senior Corporate Counsel for the Phoenix based lodging company, Doubletree Corporation. Schantz serves on the Company’s senior executive team and has responsibility for helping to guide all aspects of the Company's general matters and strategy.
