General Manager - Hotel
Comfort Suites West Monroe, LA

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience as a General Manager for a small, midscale, limited service hotel in the West Monroe, LA. area. Successful candidate must have a proven track record in achieving excellent financial results through maximizing revenues, delivering exceptional guest service, product quality, building upon a loyal committed team. 

  • The General Manager is responsible for short and long term planning of day-to-day hotel operations.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the hotel's executive staff along with the indirect supervision of all hotel employees.
  • Analyze previous and projected data to generate an accurate forecast. Respond quickly to changing market conditions and revise strategies accordingly.
  • Required to tour the operating department's daily making adjustments as needed via the department heads. 
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Executive Housekeeper and Director of Engineering. 
  • The General Manager will conduct weekly staff meetings and review future sales and operations efforts. 
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and mentor all team members as needed. 
  • The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the hotel, including improving financial performance, operational and financial controls, ensuring optimal guest satisfaction scores, and developing and retaining a strong management and hourly associate team. 
  • The General Manager will maintain regular contact with the hotel management company to provide information daily on operations and sales efforts. 

Job Requirements

General Manager Qualifications

Two years of professional experience as a hotel General Manager a MUST with a minimum of 5 years experience total in the hospitality industry. PMS experience a Plus. Ability to work with Microsoft Office is preferred. 

Choice Advantage experience a Plus

Walter ThomasCPA/ComptrollerWalter Thomas received his BBA from the University of Houston in 1972 and was certified as a CPA in 1980. His various positions over the years, beginning with Dallas IRS office to working for Houston Natural Gas Corporation, BJ Services USA, City of Houston, University of Houston to the present have all added to his vast experience in implementing and maintaining impeccable accounting systems. His extensive background in hotel accounting ensures accurate reconciliation of accounts receivable, coordination of annual audits, implementation of new accounting systems, preparation of monthly financial statements and monthly/quarterly sales tax returns.
Chad SlocumRegional Director of OperationsChad Slocum's twenty years plus experience in the hospitality industry prepared him for the position of Regional Director of Operations for JYI. Starting as a desk clerk while attending the University of Memphis in the early 90's and developing into an excellent general manager, opening manager, area manager and finally JYI's Director of Operations, Chad has overseen all aspects of hotel operations throughout his career. His experience and track record of optimizing operations has been exemplary and he continues to grow with JYI.
